Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lead Data Analyst to join our organization’s cybersecurity team. The Lead Data Analyst will be responsible for analysing security data, identifying trends and patterns, and providing actionable insights in the form of reports to enhance our global clientele’s security posture.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of cybersecurity concepts. Experience with data visualization tools such as Qliksense, Power BI, or D3.js to create interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports.
Basic understanding of the programming language used for scripting is required, as is an understanding of the various types of non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB).
Strong ability to translate data insights into actionable security recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Data Analysts, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to ensure the team’s success.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret security-related data in the form of reports from various sources, such as logs, alerts, and incident tickets.
- Collect, clean, and process large datasets for analysis, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Apply statistical analysis and exploratory data analysis techniques to identify patterns, trends, and relationships within the data.
- Develop and implement machine learning models and algorithms to solve complex data problems, such as predictive modelling.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand report requirements and provide data-driven reports.
- Prepare and deliver reports on security incidents, alerts and trends to management and other stakeholders.
- Prepare and present reports on security data analysis findings to management and clients on weekly and monthly calls.
- Ensuring all reports are delivered within agreed upon SLA and any dependency are escalated to management if can’t be delivered.
- Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity threats, attack techniques, and industry best practices to enhance data analysis methodologies.
- Conduct security awareness training and education programs for data analyst to promote a security-conscious culture.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, to develop scripts for data analysis.
- Knowledge of data management concepts such as data modelling, database design, and data warehousing.
- Knowledge of security principles and frameworks such as NIST, ISO, or PCI-DSS.
- Familiarity with common security threats, including malware, phishing attacks, and hacking techniques.
- Experience with different types of security data including firewall logs, system logs, and network logs.
- Experience in creating custom reports and dashboards to provide insight and help stakeholders make informed decisions.
- Familiarity with Machine Learning algorithms and techniques for anomaly detection.
